Cream Ingredients and Skin Sensitivities
Reading the whole ingredient list
Choose products by their full formula and your known sensitivities. “Natural” and “chemical-free” are not reliable measures of safety. Dermal Defense Cream is made without added fragrance or dyes; see the complete ingredient list.
A moisturizer without corticosteroids
Dermal Defense Cream does not contain a corticosteroid. It provides moisture support. Prescribed anti-inflammatory treatments serve a different purpose and should be used as directed.
Fragrance-free formulation
The cream contains no added fragrance or masking fragrance. Fragrance-free products can still contain ingredients that an individual is sensitive to, so check the complete list.
Moisture support and medical treatment
Glycerin attracts moisture and petrolatum helps keep it in the skin. These functions can be useful for dryness alongside an eczema care plan. The cream is not intended to treat the causes of seborrheic dermatitis.
The licorice-derived ingredient
The cream contains dipotassium glycyrrhizate, a licorice-derived ingredient. Its current ingredient list does not include oatmeal, aloe, apple extract or panthenol. Studies of another ingredient or formula do not establish what this cream will do.
Fatty alcohols and preservatives
Cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol are fatty alcohols used for skin feel and texture; they are different from drying ethanol. Phenoxyethanol and chlorphenesin help preserve the formula. If a clinician has identified an allergy to an ingredient, avoid it.
